About This Course
(Before beginning this barre chord course, you should already be able to play songs using open chords and power chords.)
As you move around the fretboard playing barre chords, you’ll need to know some of the notes on the fretboard in order to keep track of what you’re playing. Specifically, you need to know the notes along strings 6 and 5 because barre chords are rooted on those strings. If you’re not familiar with these notes, see the neck diagrams below.
